Which blind suits which room, at home or at work?
A bedroom facing east in Dubai needs the darkest blind, because in June the sun rises around 5:30 am. Each row ends with a downside or a risk to check.

When is a curtain, or both, better than a blind?
A curtain beats a blind where all the glass must stay clear, as on the sliding door from an apartment's living room to the balcony. Curtains on a track longer than the opening draw right off the glass; a vertical blind usually stacks its slats over the fixed pane.
Over a worktop beside the hob, a curtain would hang down near the heat; a blind ends at the sill. If someone sleeps after sunrise, pair the two. A lined curtain keeps the room dark until they wake; after that, a roller blind in the recess cuts the glare.
Two more things matter, whichever you choose.
Children: product-safety regulators in the US and Australia advise cordless blinds in homes with young children, or cords kept out of reach. In 2013 a three-year-old in Dibba, Fujairah, died after being caught in a blind cord at home, as Gulf News reported.
In a child's room, a motorized blind leaves no cord or chain at all. We fit child-safe controls on request, so tell us at the visit if children use the room.
Renting: Article 19 of Dubai Law No. 26 of 2007 asks for the landlord's permission before a tenant alters the property. Article 21 asks the tenant to hand it back as it was received.
Where your contract says nothing about drilling, you may generally drill and fill the holes when you leave, as Khaleej Times explains. If the landlord has already said no, the same source says you may have to follow that. Every blind we fit is screwed in place, so we can't put one up without drilling.
Many towers have rules of their own for fitting day. We take care of what the building asks of us as the contractor. Where an NOC has to come from you as owner or tenant, you ask for it and send it to us. This is information, not legal advice.

The free home visit
We come anywhere in Dubai, measure each window and the depth of its recess, and help you choose a blind for each room. Our blind samples travel with us, so you see each one in the room where it will hang.
Made in our workshop
A deposit confirms the order, and our own workshop makes each blind to the measurements taken at the visit. Fitting follows 3 working days after you approve, or longer for a big or complicated job.
Fitting day
We put up the brackets, then the blinds. Our workmanship, blind mechanisms and slats each carry a 2-year warranty, and any later problem goes to the salesperson who handled your order. How dark each room must be, what a child can reach and whether you can drill: we go through these with you at the free home visit.

How much do blinds cost in Dubai?
Our starting rates per m² of blind are 90 for aluminium Venetian, 110 for vertical and 120 for roller and blackout. Zebra starts at 180, Roman and faux wood at 250, bamboo at 400. Making and fitting are included, with a 2 m² minimum; your fabric or material sets the final price. A motor is extra, priced at the visit.
Is there a blinds shop or showroom I can visit?
We have no shop or showroom, so you choose your blinds at home during the free home visit, from samples seen in the room's own light. We measure each window and its recess there, and our own workshop in Dubai makes every blind to those measurements.
Should a blind sit inside the window recess or outside it?
Fit a blind inside the recess if a narrow gap of light at each side doesn't matter; it looks built in. Fixing it outside the recess covers some wall but lets less light round the edges. A window handle that sticks out, or a recess only a few centimetres deep, can rule out the inside fit.
Can a stuck roller blind, or a vertical blind that drops slats, be repaired?
A roller blind that sticks or won't stay up usually needs a new chain, spring or side control. Dropped slats on a vertical blind usually mean new clips or carriers in the top rail. With sound fabric, a repair normally costs less than a new blind. We repair blinds bought elsewhere too, after a phone call; repair call-outs are charged.
Do blinds help keep a room cool in a Dubai summer?
Blinds help most when lowered before the sun arrives on that side. DEWA, Dubai's electricity and water authority, advises shading windows in summer. A pale backing on the glass side reflects some of the sun before it warms the room. A badly sealed frame still leaks heat.
