Order a one-way draw toward the fixed pane, and a vertical blind leaves your sliding door clear. Every centimetre the headrail runs past the frame on that side moves that much of the stack off the glass and onto the wall.
- Wall space: a corner or a cupboard beside the frame stops the headrail short, so more of the stack stays on the glass.
- Handle: each slat swings toward the glass as it turns, so the headrail must stand far enough out to clear the door handle.
- Control: keep the hand control at the stack end, away from where you walk, or choose a motorized blind with no cord.
- Permission: the headrail's brackets need holes, and Dubai Law No. 26 of 2007 requires the landlord's agreement before a tenant changes the property (Article 19). Article 21 has the tenant hand it back as received; a Khaleej Times legal column explains both. This is information, not legal advice.
- Drilling: some tenancy contracts allow it, so read yours first. Many towers also want paperwork before fitting day. We arrange what the building asks of us as the contractor. A no-objection certificate (NOC) that has to come from you, as owner or tenant, you request and hand to us.
Curtains across a living-room door and curtains for a meeting room follow the same rule, with the track past the frame. Fitting out an office? See blinds planned for a whole floor.
For windows nobody walks through, see a roller blind, aluminium Venetian blinds with horizontal slats or the rest of our blinds. If an old blind keeps dropping slats, we repair blinds we didn't fit as well.
