Curtain installation

Tracks, curtains and blinds, fitted by us

Price on visit

If a track has pulled out of the ceiling or new curtains need hanging, curtain installation in Dubai starts with what the track is fixed into. Gypsum board on its own isn't made to hold a lined curtain's weight. We fit tracks, curtains and blinds, and measure for new ones at a free home visit. For repairs, send photos first.

Which of these brought you here?

Bare windows in a flat you rent

Check the ceiling cove first: a track is often hidden there already, and it takes curtains whose heading suits its gliders. Blinds from your last flat usually refit only a recess of the same size. We fix every track and blind with screws and don't fit no-drill systems, so get the landlord's permission to drill first.

The track has come away from the ceiling

Take the curtains off first, so their weight stops pulling at the board. Gypsum crumbles round a screw that has pulled out, so the same hole rarely holds again. The refit needs new holes beside the old ones.

Your new curtains came from a shop

Before anything is fixed, hold one panel up where the track will sit and see where the hem lands. Under tall glass it can end above the floor. If it falls short or trails, have it altered first.

Your ladder won't reach the top of the glass

For double-height glass, our fitters bring scaffolding, so tell us the ceiling height when you call. The scaffolding is charged separately. A curtain that long is hard work to draw by hand; a motor does it for you.

Two fitting quotes that don't match

One quote names the track and the other doesn't, and only one includes taking the old track down. Ask both fitters to price the track, the fitting, work at height and removal separately, then compare them line by line.

What do we fit and repair?

We fit and repair curtains, tracks and blinds, including ones you bought elsewhere. We don't clean curtains.

Fitting

Two layers on a double track

  • Curtain tracks

On the ceiling, inside a ceiling cove or on the wall; single, or double for two layers.

  • Curtains

Hung with even folds, then drawn end to end to check they run freely.

  • Blinds

Inside the window recess or on the wall above it.

  • Blinds where a child sleeps

Child-safe controls, fitted on request; tell us if a child uses the room.

  • A motor for curtains you own

The old track is replaced with a motorized one; a wired motor needs a power point at the track.

Pleats hanging from a row of gliders

  • Gliders

The small runners that carry each hook; new ones stop the curtain catching.

  • Roller blind chain

A slipping chain, or a blind that won't stay up, usually means a worn chain or the part it turns; the fabric can be kept.

  • Roman blind

One side rising lower than the other is a sign the cords need resetting.

  • Vertical blind slats

Slats that fall off often have a worn clip at the top. New clips, same slats.

  • Motors and remotes

On curtains and blinds, including ones another company installed.

Which track or pole suits your window?

An eyelet curtain slides along a pole, not a track. Wave curtains need a track; pinch pleats can take either, on gliders or on pole rings.

What has to be settled before anyone drills?

Before a track goes up, check what will hold it, what the building needs on fitting day, and whether your tenancy contract limits drilling. That goes for curtains from our workshop, blinds and curtains you bought.

  • Fixings: a track that keeps falling down was often screwed into bare gypsum. We drill the gypsum, fit gypsum plugs, fix the brackets and then fit the track to them. A lined curtain, two layers or one drawn by a motor loads each fixing more, so ask any fitter where each screw goes.
  • Your building: building management in many towers must approve a contractor before entry, and some limit drilling to set hours. We arrange what the building asks of us as the contractor. If it wants a no-objection certificate (NOC) from you, as owner or tenant, you request it and pass it to us. Where work is allowed only out of hours, as in many offices, we fit in the evening, at night or at weekends, for an extra charge.
  • Renting: Article 19 of Dubai Law No. 26 of 2007 makes any change to a rented home subject to the landlord's permission. Article 21 expects the home back in its original condition (the Khaleej Times summary). If your contract allows drilling or says nothing about it, fill the holes before you leave. This is information, not legal advice.

Curtains moving with you from another home may need shortening or lengthening before they go back up; check their length against the curtain sizes guide. For other jobs, see the rest of our services.

How does the job run, from your photos to fitting day?

The Curtains Dubai measures at a free home visit, makes curtains and blinds in its own workshop, and installs them itself.

Hung in even folds

  1. Send photos on WhatsApp

Photograph the whole window, then the bracket or track end up close. Add the ceiling height, and tell us if you rent.

  2. The home visit

At the window, we agree the track, how high it sits and where each layer hangs. Measuring for new curtains or blinds is free anywhere in Dubai, and we bring samples to see in your room's light. Fitting or repairing what you own is a paid call-out, talked through on the phone first. A deposit confirms the order.

  3. Fitting day

New curtains or blinds go up 3 working days after approval; big or complicated jobs take longer. Clear the sill and floor below each window: drilling gypsum scatters fine dust. Draw each curtain and run each blind before the fitter leaves. Your photos and the visit settle each window's track or pole, and what needs altering first.

Questions a fitter should be able to answer

Anything else, ask on the phone: 050 257 7765

How much does curtain installation cost in Dubai?

Fitters in Dubai may charge per window, per track or per metre. Curtains and blinds we make include fitting in their price. For ones you already own, our charge depends on the job, with a minimum call-out charge of 500. Our written quote prices each window separately, each part on its own line, and holds for 30 days.

Why does a curtain hang unevenly, and can refitting fix it?

An uneven curtain usually has one of three causes: a track that isn't level, hooks set at different heights, or a hem or floor that isn't straight. Levelling the track and resetting the hooks cures the first two. The third needs the hem altered.

Can a sheer and a blackout curtain share one ceiling track?

A single ceiling track carries one layer, so a sheer and a blackout curtain that open separately need a double track or two tracks side by side. The sheer usually hangs on the window side. A blind in the recess can stay if the track sits far enough forward for the curtain to clear it.

Will you take the tracks down and fill the holes when I move out?

We take down tracks, poles and blinds when you move out, but filling the holes and painting are not part of our work. Each fixing leaves a hole; in gypsum, it is filled, sanded and painted to match the ceiling. Ask the landlord or the building which ceiling paint was used.

Who pays if a track comes loose after fitting?

The fitter, if their workmanship warranty covers fixings and is still valid. Without one in writing, you usually pay to refix the track and repair the ceiling. Ask what the warranty covers before you accept the quote. We give a 2-year warranty on our workmanship; after the job, contact the salesperson who handled your order.
