Your laptop catches the 2 pm sun
Narrow the clear stripes instead of closing them: glare on the screen drops and the desk keeps some daylight. When the sun leaves that window, open them again.

Zebra blinds
Daylight or privacy, one blind
Made to measure in our workshop
Price on visit
If neighbours opposite can see into your Dubai flat in the evening, zebra blinds let daylight in by day and close the view at night. For a baby's noon nap or a night-shift sleeper, blackout fabric does the job better. Book a free home visit, and we'll measure each window there.

The stripes decide your privacy, the two layers how they open and close, and the colour how clear the view stays.

Sheer and solid stripes alternate; the solid ones are a little taller, to overlap when closed.

One fabric loops round the bottom rail; pulling the chain moves the front layer over the back.

Dark stripes keep the view clearer; pale ones glow and brighten the room.

Left loose, a chain forms a loop at toddler height; a motorized blind has no chain at all. We fit child-safe controls on request, so tell us at the visit that a toddler uses the room.
A recess fit needs only a few screw holes, and a chain needs no wiring. We can't fit the blind without those holes, so get the landlord's permission first. In your next flat, it fits only a window this wide.
Open stripes keep the room bright between meetings; closed, they hide the table and whiteboard from the building opposite. We fit offices as well as homes. If the building allows work only out of hours, we fit in the evening, at night or at weekends, which can cost extra.

By a sunny desk
Only closed stripes keep a lit room private after dark.
Illustration, not a measurement
You see: the view through clear stripes, and most of the daylight. Neighbours see: little by day; your lit room in the evening.
You see: soft light, no view. Neighbours see: no view in; on a pale fabric, shapes against a lamp.
You see: the whole window. Neighbours see: into the room when your lights are on.
With one fabric doing two jobs, a zebra blind does each less well than a blind made for one.

Stripes closed at dusk
| The job | Zebra blind | Better choice, if any |
|---|---|---|
| A clear view from a desk | Stripes cross the view | Sunscreen roller blind |
| A balcony door opened all day | Often left rolled up, doing nothing | Vertical blind or curtain |
| A bedroom kept dark past sunrise (about 5:30 am in June) | Light still shows through | Blackout roller or blackout-lined curtain |
| Daylight, then privacy once it's dark | Does both, one at a time | Nothing else needed |
We make every option below, and a single zebra blind can be up to 280 cm wide.

Light-filtering beside dim-out
When closed, the solid stripes glow and the view is gone.
A denser solid stripe: darker, though not black.

A cassette over the roll
The rolled fabric shows above the window.
Hides the roll and closes the gap above it.

A chain held at the wall
A side loop moves the stripes and the blind.
Works from a remote, an app or a wall switch, and needs a power point.
Window handles and edge light decide where a zebra blind goes.
An inside fit keeps the wall free for a blackout-lined curtain drawn across at night. On glass you can't reach, a motorized blind leaves no chain to stretch for. The table's other choices are sunscreen roller blinds, vertical blinds and, when you need the room dark, a blackout roller. For other windows, compare the other blind types.
Renting? Article 19 of Dubai Law No. 26 of 2007 bars a tenant from making "any changes" without the landlord's permission. Article 21 covers move-out day: the flat must be as you received it, ordinary wear and tear aside. A Khaleej Times explainer applies both articles to drilling.
Read your tenancy contract too: it may already permit drilling if you repair each hole at handover. This is information, not legal advice.
The building's management may also need to approve the fitter's visit. We arrange what the building asks of us as the contractor. If it wants a no-objection certificate (NOC) from you, as owner or tenant, you request it and pass it to us.

Where the blind is fixed
Enter the window's width, then its height. The calculator multiplies the area by our starting rate per square metre of blind, which includes making and fitting; a motor is priced on top. We confirm the price at your free home visit, once we've measured and you've chosen the fabric.

The final price depends on the fabric or material you choose and the measurements we take at the free home visit.

The Curtains Dubai measures your windows at a free home visit, makes the zebra blinds to measure in its own workshop, and supplies and installs them.

Stripe samples in daylight
Which rooms face a neighbour or the afternoon sun, and do you rent? A few phone photos are useful too.
Besides the sizes, we note handles, sills and recess depth, and agree where each blind goes. We work anywhere in Dubai and bring stripe samples, so you see them in your room's own light. A deposit confirms the order.
Your blinds are fitted 3 working days after you approve the quote; a big or complicated job takes longer. A move-in date to meet? Mention it when we measure.
Each blind goes up, stripes set to close evenly, and we show you the controls. Our workmanship and the blind's mechanism are covered for 2 years each. Unsure whether every room should have one? Say so at the free home visit; we'll go through each window's light and use with you.

Shops quote per square metre, per square foot or per blind. Convert to one unit: a 160 × 200 cm blind is 3.2 m², about 34 sq ft. Then check each quote for the cassette, any motor and the fitting. Ours starts at 180 per square metre, fitted, with a 2 m² minimum; your fabric sets the final price.
In most Dubai shops, yes: each name picks out one feature of the same blind. Zebra describes the stripes, day-and-night its two uses and duplex its double layer; Korean and combi are names some sellers use. On a quote, the parts listed matter more than the name.
Stripes line up across a row when every blind is cut at the same point in the pattern and hung at one height. Fabric from one roll keeps the colour even. Chain-operated blinds need realigning by hand after each change; motors on one control usually keep them in step.
Sun, more than daily use, decides how long a zebra blind lasts. UV readings published for Dubai reach 11 to 12, the extreme band, in late July, and west- and south-facing glass takes the most. Fading usually shows less on pale stripes than on dark ones. Our warranty covers the making for 2 years, but not fading from the sun.
With the blind down and its stripes open, dust both layers with a dry microfibre cloth or a vacuum's upholstery brush. Lift marks with mild soapy water and let the fabric dry fully before rolling up. We don't offer cleaning.
We call or message you on the number you gave to agree a day for the visit. Then we visit and measure every window. The visit and the measuring are free.
